Ken Luebbering's travels gave him a new outlook on service

Ken Luebbering poses on the Salvation Army playground equipment. Luebbering puts his faith into action, serving the Salvation Army through Grace Episcopal Church. His work on the grant helped the Salvation Army get the playground for the children of those at the Center of Hope homeless shelter.

He has taught English under majestic mountains that look like they came out of a fairy tale in Norway and in Poland, where he saw a culture shocked by shifting politics.

He's seen the worn patterns in stone and wood from centuries of faithful parishioners making their way to worship in Wales. And he's seen a myriad of stained glass windows telling stories and sharing beauty throughout England.

For a boy who grew up on a chicken farm in rural Mid-Missouri, this has been an extraordinary life, Ken Luebbering acknowledged.
