4-H to put on Kids Safety Day

Program hopes to educate kids on staying safe, benefits of 4-H

Spurred by the ongoing local and national tragedies involving young people and looking for ways to join together with other local organizations, Cole County 4-H will host a first-time Kids Safety Day on Jan. 17.

"It's a good idea for kids to learn how to keep themselves safe," said Diane Temmen, Cole County 4-H assistant.

Children will be out of school on Jan. 17 to observe Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.

"We want to spread the message of 4-H and the awesome things we do," said Jenny Flatt, 4-H Youth Specialist. "We hope non-4-H kids will join us on the 17th, too."

Registration so far is about 50 percent 4-H kids. And the registration will close at 50 students, ages 8-18.
