Public works panel weighs redesign of transit headquarters

A change needs to happen with Jefferson City's transit system.

That much, the members of the Public Works and Planning Committee could agree upon Thursday morning. What that change should look like, however, did not bring the same kind of unity.

Jeff Reeder, with the Kansas City-based TranSystems Corporation, presented to the committee the results of a transit feasibility study his company conducted.

The results of the study were simple. As it currently stands, the site that serves as the city's central maintenance, bus storage and transit administration building is not meeting the demands that are being placed upon it.
