Missouri government workers last year donated more than $1 million to charities through a state donation program.
The state Office of Administration says that more than $900,000 of those donations will go to charities based in Missouri. The remainder will go to out-of-state and international groups.
Workers for the Department of Transportation gave the most of any state agency with more than $200,000 in donations.
Employees contribute money to charities through one-time donations or by having the funds deducted from their paychecks.
The Office of Administration says the program has raised $23 million in donations in the last 26 years.
