LU curators OK 3 construction projects

Two Jefferson City businesses and a Texas firm won construction projects this week from Lincoln University's Board of Curators.

The result will be five new science labs, a renovated lecture hall and a resurfaced track at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

The most expensive of the three is a $252,880 contract with Wisch and Vaughan Construction, for renovation and upgrade of research laboratories in Founder's Hall.

"Three classrooms will be converted into scientific wet labs, and the other two spaces are currently laboratories, but they're getting upgrades," said Sheila Gassner, LU's design and construction director.

"It's a whole scientific lab, where you have water, gas, vacuum, air, the cabinetry, fume hood and everything related to a scientific laboratory."

Gassner said the work could begin next month.
