Dear Editor:
This is a note I have been meaning to write for a long time. I watch a lot of sports on TV, local, national and international. Why is it that when vocalists are asked to sing the national anthem of the United States, they think their version is better than the way it was written?
Every time I have heard the national anthem of Canada, it is the same, other countries are as well. Is it that people of other countries love their country so much, they do not massacre their national anthem, or will they be punished if they don't sing it properly?
Sunday, the vocalist for the opening of the Super Bowl, did such a bad rendition of our national anthem, I was embarrassed for her. The network should have bleeped her out. What a disgrace these people are to our wonderful United States.
Come on, vocalists, please sing our beautiful national anthem as it is written and quit embarrassing yourselves and our country in front of the rest of the world.
