STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - Maya Moore had 17 points and eight rebounds and No. 1 Connecticut earned its 90th straight victory with a 85-42 win over Pacific on Tuesday night, a lopsided West Coast warmup for the Huskies' showdown with ninth-ranked Stanford on Thursday.
UConn (12-0), on the court in Northern California only a few hours after the Cardinal whipped No. 4 Xavier 89-52 at Maples Pavilion, was solid and methodical in its first game since topping the 88-game winning streak set by John Wooden's UCLA men's team from 1971-74 by beating No. 22 Florida State 93-62 on Dec. 21.
Jordan Rogers led scrappy but overmatched Pacific (3-10) with 11 points. The Tigers committed 22 turnovers, shot 27.8 percent and gave up a 30-2 second-half run.
No. 9 Stanford 89, No. 4 Xavier 52
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 23 points and 11 rebounds and Stanford pulled off a surprising rout of Xavier for its 51st straight home win.
What a tuneup for Thursday's highly anticipated showdown with top-ranked Connecticut.
Jeanette Pohlen added 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals for the Cardinal (8-2), who beat the third-seeded Musketeers in the Sacramento Regional last March.
Amber Harris had 18 points and nine rebounds for cold-shooting Xavier (10-2), which lost its second straight game after a 10-0 start.
No. 7 Texas A&M 74, Drexel 45
SAN DIEGO (AP) - Danielle Adams scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half and No. 7 Texas A&M rolled to a win over Drexel in the Surf 'N Slam tournament.
Texas A&M (10-1), playing its first game in nine days, showed no rust as it led from the outset. The Aggies used a 16-3 run midway through the first half to take a 25-7 lead with 8:55 left.
Adams made 9 of 14 shots to lead Texas A&M, which shot 47.7 percent.
Kamile Nacickaite scored 11 points and Jasmina Rosseel added 10 for Drexel (7-3), which trailed 42-22 at halftime.
The Aggies will play host San Diego State (6-5) in Thursday night's championship game.
Texas A&M looked solid in every phase of the game as it held a 38-26 rebounding edge, limited the Dragons to 35.6 percent shooting and forced Drexel into a season-high 24 turnovers.
No. 10 North Carolina 75, College of Charleston 49
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Waltiea Rolle scored 15 points and Jessica Breland had 14 points, leading North Carolina to a win over the College of Charleston.
Though the Tar Heels (12-0) never trailed, they led just 10-6 after six minutes until forward Laura Broomfield dominated the offensive glass while scoring seven of her 10 points and helping North Carolina take a 20-8 lead.
College of Charleston's Latisha Harris and Brianna Davie gave the Cougars (4-7) more of an inside-outside game in the second half while leading the team with 11 points each.
Duquesne 71, No. 13 Ohio State 67
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Duquesne rallied from eight points down in the final 5 minutes to upset the Buckeyes.
Ohio State (8-3) led 65-64 before the Dukes took the lead on Orsi Szecsi's two free throws with 1:49 left. She followed with a field goal 27 seconds later before Jantel Lavender made a field goal to make it 68-67.
The Buckeyes had a chance to take the lead but Samantha Prahalis missed a contested layup and Duquesne's Kelly Britcher made a 3-pointer with 9 seconds left for the final margin.
Prahalis scored 22 points and Jantel Lavender had 21 for the Buckeyes.
Wumi Agunbiade led the Dukes (10-2) with 17 points before fouling out with 2:23 to play.
No. 17 St. John's 81, Liberty 66
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Shenneika Smith tied her career high with 28 points, Da'Shena Stevens added 20, and St. John's needed a late surge to salvage a surprisingly difficult victory over Liberty.
The Red Storm (12-1) led 62-60 with 5:53 left before finally shaking the pesky Lady Flames (4-7). It was the 11th straight win for St. John's.
Stevens, a junior forward, became the 17th player in St. John's history to score 1,000 career points. She has 1,015 in 78 games.
LaKendra Washington and Danika Dale each scored 13 points for the Flames.
No. 18 Maryland 83, La Salle 45
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Lynetta Kizer scored 10 of her 15 points in the opening eight minutes, and Maryland cruised to its 10th consecutive victory.
The Terrapins (11-1) led 12-0 and 34-9 in the first half against the overmatched Explorers (4-7). Maryland will face 17th-ranked St. John's in the championship game of the Terrapin Classic.
Freshman forward Alyssa Thomas scored 14 points for Maryland, her ninth successive game in double figures. Diandra Tchatchouang added 11 points.
Ebonee Jones had 18 points on 5 for 21 shooting and collected nine rebounds for La Salle.
No. 18 Georgetown 77, Houston 37
HOUSTON (AP) - Tia Magee scored 15 points and Sugar Rodgers had 13 for the Hoyas.
The Cougars (8-3) were without injured senior Courtney Taylor, but it likely wouldn't have mattered.
Houston entered the game leading Conference USA in scoring 77.4 points per game, but Georgetown's defense smothered the Cougars.
The Hoyas (11-3) had already built a 35-6 lead when Houston's Brittney Scott made her team's first field goal, a 3-pointer with 2:53 remaining in the first half. Houston shot 9 of 49, while Georgetown made 21 of 56 field goals.
Brittney Scott scored 9 points for the Cougars, who had seven of their first 21 shots blocked by the Hoyas.
No. 22 Arkansas 88, Furman 47
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Lyndsay Harris scored 16 points and hit four 3-pointers, all in the first half.
Ashley Daniels had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Razorbacks (12-0).
The game was Arkansas' first since defeating No. 15 Oklahoma on Dec. 19 and its final nonconference matchup before opening Southeastern Conference play. The 12-0 start is the second-best in school history, only behind a 15-0 start three seasons ago.
Arkansas opened on a 19-4 run, capped by jumper by Keira Peak. The Razorbacks held the Paladins (6-6) to 30.3 percent shooting in the first half on their way to a 44-23 halftime lead.
Kelly O'Connor led Furman with 10 points.
No. 24 Syracuse 94, St. Francis, Pa. 60
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Iasia Hemingway had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Kayla Alexander added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Syracuse beat St. Francis, Pa.
Carmen Tyson-Thomas added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Syracuse (10-1). It marked the first time the Orange had three players register double-doubles in a game since 1989.
Samantha Leach had 17 points, Brittany Lilley 14 and Allison Daly 13 for the Red Flash (5-7), who were outrebounded 48-26.
No. 25 Florida State 74, Florida 72
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Cierra Bravard's two free throws with 30 seconds left lifted the Seminoles over the Gators.
Bravard, Florida State's scoring leader, finished with 10 points. Her 3-point play less than a minute earlier gave the Seminoles (10-3) a short-lived 71-70 lead.
Jaterra Bonds driving jumper gave the Gators a 72-71 lead.
Courtney Ward scored 20 points, including a final free throw with a tenth of a second left, and freshman Natasha Howard added 17 points and 10 rebounds for her second career double-double for the Seminoles, who narrowly avoided losing three straight games for the first time since the 2003-04 season.
Jordan Jones hit four of six 3-pointers to lead Florida (10-4) with 14 points. Bonds added 11 points and a game high seven assists and Deana Allen finished with 10.
