Capital City begins to dig out

Capital City begins to dig out

February 2nd, 2011 in News

The start of trying to get back to some sort of normalcy after a record-setting snow could be seen Thursday morning in Jefferson City.

Streets in the downtown area were passable, and some store owners had gotten to their shops to open them for whoever could make it in.

Sidewalks were cleared or being cleared.

Road crews were out in force, hitting the main roads first to get them in as good a shape as was possible.

Law enforcement still was dealing with stalled out cars that were left in the middle of streets that needed to be moved for street crews to get through.

Emergency officials continue to urge citizens to stay at home today so that the road crews can be unimpeded to clear the roads.

Few if any power outages have been reported around Mid-Missouri.

Road crews still hope to get the main roads ready so that most citizens could get back to work on Thursday.
