NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Great-grandchildren of the late founder of Barq's root beer are appealing a federal judge's dismissal of their lawsuit against the Coca-Cola Company, in which they claimed to have an ownership stake in the company that Coca-Cola purchased in 1995.
U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier granted Coca-Cola's bid to dismiss the case in a judgment entered last month.
On Tuesday, a notice of appeal was filed by a lawyer for three great-grandchildren of the late Edward Charles Edmond Barq Sr., who started bottling and selling carbonated beverages in New Orleans' French Quarter more than a century ago.
Coca-Cola said the plaintiffs' father, Arthur Robinson, sold his interests in Barq's more than 30 years ago, long before the soft drink giant acquired the company from other relatives of Edward Barq.
