Vehicle used in shooting found in Moniteau County

The Cole County Sheriff's Department has located the car owned by fugitive Rafael Fuentes.

He and Jose Luis Hurtado have been charged with second-degree murder for the Sunday shooting death of Francisco Navarro, 26, at an Apache Flats mobile home park. Fuentes is also charged with hindering the prosecution of a felony by driving Hurtado from the scene of the crime.

Sheriff Greg White confirmed Thursday evening that his department, in cooperation with the California Police Department and Moniteau County prosecutor's office, recovered Fuentes' 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora.

He didn't say where in California the car was recovered. But he said authorities don't think Fuentes was near the car, which they had been watching "for some time."

The Sheriff's Department is processing the car for evidence.
