Burglar makes off with Missouri deputy's uniform

LOUISIANA, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in northeastern Missouri say charges are pending against a man suspected of stealing parts of a uniform from the home of a sheriff's deputy.

Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/sjEaMC) the 40-year-old man lives a few blocks from the deputy's home in the town of Louisiana.

Korte says the deputy noticed around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday that his uniform shirt was missing from a back room where he'd put it on a chair. The badge that was pinned to the shirt was also gone, along with his uniform belt.

The sheriff says no weapons were taken from the home. Officers recovered some items, but believe the suspect burned others in a wood stove.
