Fulton firefighters extinguish residential blaze

The Fulton Fire Department responded early Wednesday to 1001 Granite Court to fight a residential structure fire.

When firefighters first arrived around 12:38 a.m., smoke and flames were showing on the exterior of the single story multi-unit assisted living complex near its garage. An employee of the complex was in the process of evacuating the building.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes and removed smoke from the structure.

The fire started as a residential Dumpster fire and spread into the exterior wall of the structure. An employee smelled smoke and found the flames. Smoke detectors activated.

One medic unit from Callaway County Ambulance District responded to stand by, but no one was injured. The Fulton Police Department also was on scene and assisted with traffic control.

Damages are estimated between $10,000 and $15,000.
