Fire damages Springfield church

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A Springfield church has been damaged by fire, and investigators believe a burglar was trying to cover up a theft.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/uGjFLy) the fire at New Apostolic Church was reported around 5 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters say someone apparently broke out windows at the church to get inside, then set fires in a couple of places.

Church members were working with investigators to determine what was stolen and how much damage the church sustained.
