Man who escaped from Lexington jail captured

LEXINGTON, Mo. (AP) - A man who escaped from the Lafayette County jail over the weekend has been recaptured.

The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department says 39-year-old Tommy F. Haubrich was captured Tuesday night in the St. Louis area.

Haubrich escaped from the Lafayette County jail Saturday night through the maintenance room to the jail's roof. Jail officials say he wasn't discovered missing until Sunday afternoon because of an inmate counting error.

The sheriff's department says it is likely Haubrich had outside help in his escape.

Haubrich was being held for the U.S. Marshal's Service on federal drug-related charges.
