Wolfe named president of University of Missouri

December 13th, 2011 in News

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Businessman Timothy Wolfe has been chosen as the new president of the University of Missouri.

Wolfe was introduced Tuesday as the next leader of the four-campus university system after a search that spanned almost a year.

He replaces Gary Forsee, who stepped down in January to care for his wife as she battles cancer. Interim president Steve Owens did not want the job permanently and plans to resume his duties as general counsel.

The university Board of Curators started its presidential search with a list of about 100 candidates and said last week that it had settled on a single finalist. But the university kept the selection secret until Tuesday's announcement.
