Tonya Lewis Lee urged Lincoln University's newest graduates to "leave this world a little bit better than when you got here," during Saturday morning's Winter 2011 Commencement ceremonies. "Your contribution is integral to the greater good of us all."
And 1985 LU graduate Marvin O. Teer Jr., now a St. Louis municipal judge and current president of LU's board of curators, told the graduates: "You have truly arrived - but this is just the beginning!"
Lewis Lee, whose biography notes she's been a creative presence in children's literature and video production for almost 15 years, advised the LU graduates: "We must first and foremost be vigilant in taking care of ourselves, first."
In recent years, Lewis Lee has been an advocate for healthy families - and for reducing infant mortality.
