Husband sentenced to life in wife's death

LAYTON, Mo. (AP) - A St. Louis County man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing his wife at a hospital parking garage.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/t9yRcH) reports that Christopher Colletta was sentenced Friday to two consecutive life sentences without parole in the 2010 death of his wife, Mary. He was convicted in November of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Mary Colletta was stabbed to death on the top deck of the Mercy Hospital St. Louis garage in Creve Coeur on Aug. 3, 2010. Christopher Colletta testified that it was a fit of rage after handing her divorce papers.

Circuit Court Judge Tom DePriest Jr. called the crime "unspeakable and horrific."
