Charges filed in JC Heroin Bust

Charges were filed Wednesday against a man and a woman from Jefferson City who were arrested Tuesday after a narcotics search warrant was served at their residence.

According to court records, Benjamin Nilges, 29, and his girlfriend, Haley Johnson, 20, both of 1421 E. Miller Street, were each charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of the controlled substances Suboxone and Kolonopin, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements show that upon entering the residence, officers found Nilges and Johnson sitting on a couch in the living room with several controlled substances lying in front of them on a coffee table.

The heroin that was found, which was being separated on a plate, was being packaged for distribution.

A portion of the heroin had already been packaged into seven small baggy corners weighing about .10 grams each.

A box of sandwich bags was seized along with a digital scale.

A 1-week-old baby that also found at the residence was turned over to the state's Family Services Division.
