24-year-old convicted in fatal home invasion

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A 24-year-old man faces life in prison without parole for the death of a nurse during a robbery at her St. Louis home.

Mario Coleman was found guilty Monday of first-degree murder and 25 other felony counts for the home invasion in October 2009. KMOV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/tiFB8E) Coleman's lawyer argued that his client robbed the home of Gina Stallis but did not fire the shot that killed the 34-year-old mother of two.

Coleman's accomplice, 18-year-old Ledale Nathan Jr., was convicted earlier of murder and other felonies. Nathan is serving a life sentence.

Prosecutors said Coleman and Nathan forced their way into the home after confronting two people outside. Both of those people - a firefighter and an off-duty police officer - were shot multiple times but survived.
