Baby removed from home and 2 arrested in heroin bust

Jefferson City police said Tuesday a one-week-old baby was turned over to the state's Family Services division.

And two adults were arrested after the SWAT Team served a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 1400 block of East Miller Street, around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

"A substantial amount of heroin was found during the search warrant, which was the result of a MUSTANG Task Force case investigation," Capt. Doug Shoemaker said in a news release.

A man, 29, was arrested for felonious distribution of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

A woman, 21, was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute a drug and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said another man who also was at the home when the search warrant was served was released, with no charges pending at this time.

They said no one was injured, and no other information was released.
