Helias forward Emma Verslues eyes the basket against Lebanon on Monday at Rackers Fieldhouse.

From the perspective of the Helias Lady Crusaders, this was more like it.

The Lady Crusaders played their best overall game so far this season Monday night, posting a 61-35 victory over the Lebanon Lady Jackets at Rackers Fieldhouse.

"It's not the offense that you play, it's not the defense that you play, it's how you play them," Helias coach Doug Light said. "Mentally, we were in the game at the start and that's the hardest part."

After Lebanon scored the first basket, Helias scored the next 12 points to take the lead for good. Ten of the 12 points came on drives to the basket as the Lady Crusaders looked for the extra pass instead of settling for the first open look.

"That was huge," Light said. "It was nice not to get into an early hole and have to figure out a way to dig out of it."
