KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities searched a commercial airplane for explosives after it landed because the airline had received a suspicious communication while en route to Kansas City.

Joel Sealer, spokesman for the Kansas City FBI office, said Delta Airlines received an electronic communication "that was somewhat suspicious" while the plane, a Delta flight operated by Mercury Air, was bound for Kansas City from the New York area on Friday night.

Sealer said he could not elaborate on the communication or how it was received. He said the search found "no direct threat," and there were no arrests.

Kathleen Hefner, spokeswoman for the Kansas City airport, said when the plane landed it was searched with the help of explosive-sniffing dogs. She said the 45 passengers were questioned, and their baggage was also searched.
