Missouri group warns of random violence after attacks

August 29th, 2011 in News

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A St. Louis organization that promotes walking and biking is warning cyclists to watch out for random attacks after an assault last week.

Trailnet says the boyfriend of one of its staff members was punched in the face by a group of six to 10 young men Thursday night while the couple were riding.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch ( reports Trailnet's executive director says the couple saw other cyclists ahead who also were attacked. The couple say police told them it looked like another example of the "Knockout Kings" game.

The so-called game involves random attacks on unsuspecting people. It gained attention earlier this year when 72-year-old Hoang Nguyen was fatally attacked while walking with his wife.

Police say they are still working to confirm the report from Trailnet.
