Hunger is an issue that crosses many lines. It affects people in nations around the world, and it is no respecter of ethnic and cultural differences.
So it is that compassion for this problem also can be universal.
This October, hundreds of Mid-Missourians - Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists and more - will walk 3.3 miles from the Lincoln University campus downtown and to the Capitol to raise both money and awareness for world hunger.
A CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Walk for World Hunger has been organized locally for 40 years. The Capital Area Interfaith Alliance has been the host the last several years.
This year, the Sunday afternoon tradition will be infused with new energy and participation, thanks to Lincoln University and its commitment to the President's Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge.
