Body found in river at St. Louis identified

ST. LOUIS (AP) - The man whose body was found in the Mississippi River at St. Louis last week has been identified.

The St. Louis Medical Examiner's office told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/nQJ4nH ) that the victim is 47-year-old Vincent Spates.

Spates, of St. Louis, was identified through fingerprints.

A towboat operator removed the body from the river Thursday afternoon. Authorities still don't know how he died.
