Cole County's government wants to get out of the water business.
Presiding Commissioner Marc Ellinger plans to contact Missouri American Water Co. officials to set up a meeting with the County Commission about what it would take for the company to buy the Eugene water system from the county.
Commissioners believe that a major factor Missouri American will want to address is raising the water rates.
