SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - A lawyer says a group of more than 25,000 South Koreans are suing Apple for what they claim are privacy violations related to the collection of iPhone user location information.
Attorney Kim Hyeong-seok said Wednesday the suit involves 27,612 people who are each seeking 1 million won ($932) in damages. Kim said the suit targets Apple Inc. and its South Korean unit.
Apple spokesman Steve Park declined to comment.
Kim filed a similar lawsuit earlier this year and was awarded 1 million won.
Apple has faced complaints and criticisms since revelations in the U.S. that iPhones were storing locations of nearby cellphone towers and Wi-Fi hot spots for up to a year. Such data can be used to create a rough map of the device owner's movements.
