JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri legislative leaders are voicing concern about Gov. Jay Nixon's decision to leave a certain kind of tax credit off the agenda for a planned special session.
House and Senate leaders have written to Nixon saying some lawmakers believe his exclusion of the so-called land assemblage tax credit was meant to create doubt about the soundness of a possible agreement.
Nixon and lawmakers have been working on an economic development package for debate in the special session. A proposal from lawmakers deals partly with expanding the land assemblage credits.
But Nixon has said the program does not meet his standard for efficient job creation.
Nixon spokesman Scott Holste says the governor's office is working with lawmakers to keep the session focused. Holste says the session remains on track for early September.
