Your Opinion: Community rallies to deliver supplies

Dear Editor:

Late night, Aug. 2, our Paris Equipment truck from Paris, Mo., broke down south of Jefferson City. On Wednesday morning, over 30 people gave their time and energy to unload and load a new trailer. All ages endured the extreme heat to assist during our desperate situation - physical labor, ice, water, tractor and loader usage, driving, trash bags, cardboard boxes, news coverage, prayers, supplies and money were contributed.

We want to acknowledge the representatives from the Super 8 Motel; Orschelns Trucking of Moberly; Tractor Supply Store; Jefferson City News Tribune; KRCG TV13; Missouri Baptist Convention; Crown Power and Equipment; Union Hill Baptist Church; Jefferson City High School, Memorial Baptist Church; Trinity Lutheran Church and school; Jefferson City Police Department; First United Methodist Church; St. Peter Catholic Church; Mueller Landscaping; Concord Baptist Church; Cole Springs Baptist Church; Scholastic Books; Mitchell Trucking of Paris; Paris First Baptist Church and any others that lended a helping hand.

In today's negative news, this positive report shows the good hearts of many people of your community, a much valued asset needed to make this donated supplies delivery to Forrest Park Baptist Church and First Christian Church Tornado Relief Centers in Joplin.

Please continue to support these victims of this disaster in Joplin. Their plight will not be over for many years ahead.
