Cole County clerk predicts low turnout today

Cole County Clerk Marvin Register believes the high heat and humidity will make for a low voter turnout for today's election to extend Jefferson City's half-cent capital improvement sales tax.

Register is predicting a 4 to 5 percent turnout. The extension question is the only issue on the ballot.

Register said the only change for this election is for voters in Jefferson City Ward 4, Precinct 5. They have a new voting location at the Great Central Lumber building. The new location is across the street from the old voting location, Capital West Christian Church Event Center, 1315 Fairgrounds Road.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

NewsTribune.com will post results when they become available and Wednesday morning's newspaper and e-Edition will include reaction to the results.
