Vivian D. Jones, 90, has spent her life giving back to the community she calls home.
Although she was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent many years in Oklahoma before moving to Jefferson City she says Missouri's Capital City is where her roots are.
"This is home, I've been here longer than anywhere," Jones said when interviewed in her Lafayette Street home.
Jones and her late husband, Lucius, relocated from Tulsa, Okla., to Jefferson City in 1948 when Lucius was offered a job at a local print shop. She was chosen to be the secretary for DeVerne L. Calloway, the first black female state legislator in Missouri, and worked with her for six years.
Later while she was working in the Office of the President of Lincoln University, Jones made time to give back to the university in other ways. She volunteered as ....
