DynCorp International settles lawsuit alleging false claims

WASHINGTON (AP) - Leading U.S. contractor DynCorp International has agreed to pay $7.7 million to settle a lawsuit alleging it submitted false claims for a State Department civilian police training program in Iraq.

The Justice Department said DynCorp subcontractor The Saudi Group also agreed to pay $1 million. The Saudi Group was accused of seeking reimbursement for danger pay to U.S. employees working in Iraq that it never paid.

Falls Church, Va.-based DynCorp was accused of submitting inflated claims for construction of container camps throughout Iraq.

The lawsuit was initially filed by whistle-blowers Drew Halldorson and Brian Evancho, who will receive as much as $481,710.

as their share of the government's recovery.
