COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri offensive lineman Travis Ruth understands he has big shoes to fill this season.

But with a little help from the man who wore those shoes last season, Ruth's transition may be a bit easier.

As he moves from guard to center, he received a lot of valuable playing time in practice and in games. But just as important as the on-field experience was listening to and observing the man he is about to replace, three-year starter Tim Barnes.

Ruth, who was a two-time all-state offensive lineman at Jefferson City High School, saw action in all 13 games last season, including a start in the Insight Bowl. But he also spent a lot of time during practice taking snaps at center in preparation for his move this season.
