The Jefferson City Jays came into Wednesday's game against Francis Howell Central riding a six-game winning streak, including a Willard Tournament title.

The Spartans knocked them down a peg.

"We got punched in the mouth in the first inning and we didn't know how to respond," Jays coach Brian Ash said after the Spartans scored four runs in the first inning and used the long ball to coast to a 13-3 win at Vivion Field.
