Lincoln baseball sweeps Truman State in doubleheader

It's becoming a little like "The Wizard of Oz" for the Lincoln baseball team - there's no place like home.

Fresh off a frustrating weekend at the University of Central Missouri, the Blue Tigers returned home and continued their hot play at Lincoln Field with a doubleheader sweep of the Truman State Bulldogs.

With their 10-6 and 11-5 victories Tuesday, the Blue Tigers improved to 8-3 at home, a vast improvement over their 0-12 mark on the road.

"We're behind everybody (but one in the conference standings) because we've gotten some of the big teams out of the way," Lincoln coach Jim Dapkus said. "... We knew going in that our road schedule was brutal because we had the top five teams all on the road.

"If we can just find a way to get some road wins and then maintain at home, and we've been doing that part, hopefully we can keep moving up."
