April 6th, 2011 in News

MOKANE, Mo. -- With six people running for only three available seats on the South Callaway Board of Education, there were bound to be some disappointments after Tuesday's election.

The three winners were Mark Laughlin, Kit Glover and Brent Woods. Laughlin came out in the lead with 289 votes, or 30.1 percent. Glover came in second with 208, or 21.67 percent, and Woods came in a close third with 205 votes, or 21.35 percent. Bob Peneston, Nancy L. McCarthy and Penny Miles were all defeated. Peneston received 113 votes, or 11.77 percent, and McCarthy and Miles tied at 71 votes, or 7.4 percent.

Glover will be returning to the board for a third, three- year term. Woods will also be returning for a third term.

Laughlin will fill the seat left open when Board Member Gary Jungermann decided not to run again.
