In real life, being selfless is more often than not a good thing. But not in soccer. At least, not as much as the Jefferson City Lady Jays have been so far this season.
"I think when we get in front of the goal, sometimes we're too unselfish," Lady Jays coach Matt Stacey said Monday night after the Lady Jays topped the Lebanon Lady Yellowjackets 1-0 at the 179 Soccer Park. "There were three or four times it was prime time to shoot, but instead, we decided to make that extra pass instead of taking the shot."
