Your Opinion: Views on Prop. A Letter 5

Dear Editor:

An important no vote on April 5 keeps our current trash and curbside recycling service. Sure it might sounds backwards to say no to something you want to keep but it's easy to remember if you ask yourself: Do you want to pay more for trash service? No. Do you want your curbside recycling to go away? No. Makes it easy to remember no on Prop. A.

If Prop. A passes, the city loses. We will not have the choice to keep curbside recycling with our trash service. Without a contract, we will be back to driving our recycling to a collection center.

We will most likely have the same service as the county - once a week trash pick-up, no curbside recycling at a cost of $5 to $10 more per month. However, the cost could be more as there would be no price control in place to protect city residents.

As a councilwoman and a resident, I am excited and welcome the opportunity for our community to show that we are moving forward. A vote no will do that.

Vote no so we do not lose our services.
