Gordon gets new sponsor

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Jeff Gordon will be sponsored next season by the AARP Foundation's "Drive To End Hunger" campaign.

The four-time NASCAR champion said the sponsorship agreement is for three years.

The cause-related sponsorship is the first of its kind to be the primary sponsor for a major race team. The anti-hunger initiative is geared toward feeding older Americans.

The AARP said of the estimated 51 million Americans who go hungry each night, six million are over the age of 60.

The announcement Wednesday ends a season-long sponsorship search for Hendrick Motorsports.

The team needed to replace a portion of races that Gordon's longtime sponsor, DuPont, will no longer fund.
