Football game doubles as breast cancer fundraiser

There will be pink all around during South Callway's football game versus Tipton at 7 p.m. Friday night when the two teams meet in Mokane.

To help raise money and awareness for breast cancer, T-shirts and other items have been sold and others will be for sale at the game.

"We have been busy raising money to donate to the Relay for Life team honoring Jan MacLauglin. Jan is a Holts Summit resident who is a two-year survivor of breast cancer. Last year our community donated $3,500 to this worthwhile cause," said Shelly Sconce, South Callaway cheerleading coach. "We've also had a friendly coaches competition where by Friday, either myself or Coach Tucker Bartley, football Coach, will have pink hair.

At half-time all the breast cancer survivors present will be given a pink carnation.

Sconce said it looks as though they will surpass last year's $3,500.

Community members are asked to come and show their support during the game.
