Chief of staff of Kansas City schools leaves post

October 3rd, 2010 in News

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A search is under way to replace the chief of staff of the Kansas City School District.

The school district said Friday that Jeffery McDaniels is no longer with the district. McDaniels was one of the first administrators to join Superintendent John Covington's executive cabinet in August 2009.

He's the fourth cabinet-level administrator to leave during the district's transformation plan.

The Kansas City Star reports that Covington has declined to discuss why McDaniels left. McDaniels has also declined comment. Covington said a search for his replacement is under way.

The district has closed 24 schools and made many changes in staffing, curriculum and programming.
