Webb City trounces Warrenton for Class 4 title

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Webb City set a state record with 35 first-quarter points on the way to a 56-7 win over Warrenton in the Class 4 state championship game.

Webb City (15-0) scored 49 points in the first half Saturday, also tying the record, as the Cardinals dominated their way to the school's ninth state title.

Webb City running back Maddison Johnson ran for two touchdowns and returned a punt 50 yards for a third to lead the first-half outburst.

Warrenton (11-4) was making its first appearance in the state championship game.
