Keys. Items we often misplace. Items we take for granted. Items that set us apart.
"If you have keys, you are blessed," Michael German told children who were attending the Fifth Annual Homeless Awareness Day last week at the Capitol.
"I want you, every time you see keys, to be thankful for where you are. To be thankful you have keys to a home, a place to do your homework, to eat dinner, to sleep at night. Keys are the one thing that sets you apart from a homeless person," said German, regional coordinator for the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness.
As part of the effort by the Governor's Committee to End Homelessness to promote education, awareness and prevention of homelessness in Missouri, 27 social service agencies were showcased Thursday throughout the first floor Rotunda.
