ST. LOUIS (AP) - An eastern Missouri man has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for threatening a St. Louis police lieutenant, his family and several other people.
Fifty-year-old William Mabie of Festus was convicted in August of three felony counts of mailing threatening communications and one count of interstate communication of threats. He was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Federal prosecutors say that beginning in May 2008, Mabie made threatening e-mails, letters and phone calls to people and police officers.
In some cases, he called police and said he planned to engage in gunfights with officers. In letters, he said he would kill or injure people and it "would take hours to clean up the blood."
