Former Nixa official sentenced for fraud scheme

The former street superintendent of Nixa has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for defrauding the southwest Missouri town of more than $756,000.

The U.S. Attorney's office says 51-yearold Larry Covington of Ash Grove won't be eligible for parole under the sentence he received Tuesday.

Covington must also pay about $755,000 in restitution and forfeit turn over items bought with the stolen money, including vehicles, trailers, an ATV and firearms.
