Midway through the third quarter Monday night, Webb City starting quarterback Scott Roderique left the game with an injured ankle. He didn't return. That may have been the turning point for the Cardinals. And the Helias Crusaders.
Backup quarterback Breckin Williams tossed two touchdown passes in relief as the Cardinals defeated the Crusaders 35-21 in Class 4 sectional action at Adkins Stadium.
The Crusaders hadn't seen much of Williams on tape, because there wasn't much to see. The junior had thrown just 10 passes, completing seven, in mop-up action this season.
