Joplin seeks resignation of public defender

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - The Joplin City Council has voted to seek the resignation of the city's public defender.

The Joplin Globe reports that the city council voted unanimously in a closed session to ask public defender Tom Mann to resign. City Attorney Brian Head revealed the vote Friday. He did not give a reason for the forced resignation.

Head said the Mann is handling several cases and details of when his city employment will end have not been worked out.
