Boyle promoted to colonel in Missouri National Guard

David L. Boyle, director of strategic plans and policy, joint training and exercises, was recently promoted to colonel in the Missouri National Guard.

He was pinned colonel by his wife, Sandra, and by Maj. Gen. Stephen L. Danner, adjutant general of the Missouri National Guard.

"Boyle is one of our bright stars. This is an honor for me because it symbolizes what is best in the guard," Danner said.

Boyle, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, joined the Ohio National Guard in 1980 to pay for his college education. He was commissioned five years later through the ROTC program at Ohio University.

During his 30 years of National Guard service, Boyle has served not only in the Ohio National Guard but also in the Maryland National Guard, for over five years in Panama as an active guard and reserve soldier and with National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C. He joined the guard in 2007.
