Jefferson City's Historic Preservation Commission recently has recognized four buildings as City Landmarks. They are.
1-The Hawkins-Herman Home, 1005 Adams St., owned by Robert and Roberta Herman.
2-The Cook-Nixon Home, 1208 Elmerine, owned by Gov. Jeremiah and Georganne Nixon.
3-The Towne Grill, 315 Jefferson St., owned by Ryan and Stacey Butler.
4-The Sunken Garden, 1110 Moreau Dr., owned by Stuart and Mary Ann Murphy.
The Hermans, Nixons and Murphys agreed the neighborhoods their homes are in play a great part in how much they enjoy their homes. The Butlers, who purchased the restaurant in August, have enjoyed hearing about the building's history, such as it was once the city bus stop.
"It's a joy to love this home and to take care of it," Georganne Nixon said.
