Mid-Missouri couple killed in crash on U.S. 50

BEAUFORT, Mo. - A head-on collision has killed two people in eastern Missouri and injured a third.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 50 near Beaufort in Franklin County.

The patrol says a westbound pickup truck driven by a 73-year-old Mount Sterling woman failed to negotiate a curve and struck an eastbound car head-on.

The crash killed the car's driver, 71-year-old Frederick Kraisser, and his passenger, 70-year-old Joyce Kraisser. The patrol identifies the victims as a husband and wife from the town of Bland. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup's driver was injured.

Beaufort is located about 50 miles west of St. Louis.
